Excel?

++++++++++

"(1) The "Prospects" (thing) is one of the most powerful motivators for your blue-chips-driven staff. When a staff is unable to understand thoroughly how your business develops, they would consider that prospect doesn't exist even though you are full of confidence with your plans. When they cannot see through the mist and somehow find another picturesque scenery, your efforts are going futile.

For family businesses, staff exits for better prospects because for most of the time, they DON'T know what prospects they are having. They do have a prospect, but family "members" selectively (though not on purpose) choose what prospects to be told."
Ordinary people think concretely and has myopic thinking, pretty hard for the becoming leader (or entrepreneur) to instill the vision into the to-be-Mr.Fok given a small renumeration and lack of guaranteed prospect of blue-chip company (although in reality it may be turn into a real prospect later, as long as the employee believe for several years, it suffices).

To screen for self-motivated/self-actualizating (not auto-motivated) employee is not impossible, but need a different skill-set from the interviewer(or the employer). And then after hiring them, can the employer really self-actualize with the employee together, i.e. is the boss a true leader? If not, it is better not to disappoint the employee, right?

Errr...

>>Ordinary people think concretely and has myopic thinking, ...given a small renumeration and lack of guaranteed prospect of blue-chip company ...

Haha, it's really ordinary.

>>To screen for self-motivated/self-actualizating (not auto-motivated) employee is not impossible, but need a different skill-set from the interviewer(or the employer) And then after hiring them...

Yeah. Intrinsically motivated people are not scarce. But somehow we have so common here is a division of recruitment functions from managing people. Even the interviewer (recruiter) may identify a self-actualized, the manager (boss) may "never" understand how to keep the momentum going. The most difficult part for both the recruiter and the boss is, I guess, what the "source" of (intrinsic) motivation of the employee is. Businesses solely with "financial goals" may supply little of this kind of motivation. Don't you think so?

Auto-motivation (a.k.a. self-motivation in HK) is big joke in our field. I often hesitate to apply for these jobs. (you can imagine how harsh can such future boss be?!)

C.M. hing,
Businesses solely with "financial goals" may supply little of this kind of motivation. Don't you think so?--> That is true for most business in HK - lack of innovation.

For me, I basically won't directly target at money when I try to make profit. I target at innovation, measure it by the amount of profit it receives. So self-actualization come from the innovation part. e.g. development of a "cure" of autism etc. is an innovation - here is the self-actualization part, profit will come as a secondary reward, or as an objective measure of how well you innovate & serve people/needy better (self-actualize). Need to be profitable to refuel the research & development (innovation). Pragmatically idealistic, so to speak.

P.S. how well-thought to manage the roll-out, marketing, human resource in order to make the core innovation work (cure of autism) is also an integral part of the innovation. Cheers.

1. 無料;
2. 無膽;

Nic Hing,

Innovation and self-actualization. These two words plunged me into days of thoughts.

Arha, got what you meant. The bell rang again: Nishibori's. I would say, self-motivation comes from the nature of work (umm... or from the person who chooses what to work?)

Innovation for/and autism. Love this idea very much. Good hunting! (I wish I could open a new post for this.)

C.M. Hing,
Innovation for a cure of autism etc to be well-accepted by the general public... (non-exist yet in terms of both expertise and vision, hence need innovation) will have immense social value under the framework of capitalism but it is against the status quo from EVERY PARTICIPANTS currently in this special circle.

Self-actualization has never been an easy job because the innovation itself does not have a place in people's mind, in fact it is a black swan people tends to reject, as before people can do the paradigm shift they can't "see" it. Hard to see the black spot on a piece of white paper until they dim the light and soften their views.
So apart from the core innovation of the cure, how to bring about the paradigm shift is also an integral part of the innovation project itself.

A bit like how Chrissie breaks into the conservative mind of HK people. Such a good marketing plan can merely receive about 2 (Against):1 (For) votes in SINA's poll.

Great to see you have a plan!

>>...innovation itself does not have a place in people's mind, in fact it is a black swan people tends to reject...

Sure do.

>>...as before people can do the paradigm shift they can't "see" it.

Umm...

>>A bit like how Chrissie breaks into the conservative mind of HK people.

That's interesting. Somehow I thought is not totally the credits of marketing plan, but change in social values, perhaps. (No strong view)

4. If you can't beat them, join them
